Famous Wristband Campaigns

There are so many ways to market and advertise these days, but some are a lot more effective than others. We think that wristbands are the answer for everyone, and so do these really successful campaigns we’re going to check out.

Some promotional gifts are limited in what they can offer, whilst wristbands can be worn in pretty much every occasion. For example, umbrellas are only good in the rain, mugs only get seen at home or in the office, and not everyone wants to make holes in their clothes with a badge, so wristbands are a winner!

Anyway, here are three of the most successful campaigns that were effective with the use of charity wristbands.

Famous Wristband Campaigns

LIVESTRONG (2004)

Quite possibly one of the most famous wristbands in the world, the yellow LIVESTRONG bracelet was developed by Nike, along with cyclist Lance Armstrong. To date there has been over 80 million LIVESTRONG bracelets sold to raise money for the charity that provides support to people affected by cancer.

Stand Up Speak Up (2005)

Another Nike collaboration that involved wristbands also included the football field. In 2005 there was a campaign to stop racism on the pitch and Thierry Henry was the main face of the campaign. This was in fact a black band and a white band interlinked with the phrase ‘Stand Up, Speak Up.’ Around 5 million of these charity wristbands were sold across Europe.

Make Poverty History (2005)

Again in 2005, the wristband was used as a symbol of unity with the Make Poverty History campaign. The wristband was sold and worn by 8 million people in the UK alone. This campaign was global and the bands could also be seen in countries such as Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Romania, South Africa, Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States of America!
