Tips for Effective Wristband Design

You’d think designing a wristband, whether for a brand or a charity, would be simple, huh? Think again. There is so much more to creating a visual identity than just placing a brand name on a coloured wristband.

Think about your wristband as an additional marketing tool to your logo, website, business card and even your CV, and consider ways you can really make your brand stand out against the competition.

So, whether you’re currently in the process of designing an effective wristband, or considering modern and inventive marketing strategies for your clients – here’s a few tips to making your wristband a success and how to design personalised wristbands that’ll get the results you want!

Be unique designing a wristband

Whatever your purpose, make it unique! There are lots of already established customised wristband designs out there, for a number of reasons, so whatever your aim, make it stand out and worthy of purchase or want.

Colour it wisely

For similar reasons as above, consider your brand and promote it well. Take into account a brand’s personality, colour schemes or logo designs in order to create a complementary wristband to that of the business’ themes, and consider shades that will grab attention without being overpowering. All colours tend to portray a different meaning, so be sure you are saying what you want to!

Keep it simple!

As you’ll be aware from our previous blog posts, most of the most successful and respected wristband campaigns are those of the most simplistic concepts and designs. If your message is strong, you will not need to over-design it! Consider a simple yet effective colour palette, complemented by the brand logo and a short catchphrase of one-line text that enhances the campaigns values (if needed).

Know your brand!

When it comes to brand image, you’ll immediately think of a logo or a typeface – so incorporate these as well as you can! If your logo is more image based, present that rather than a brand name, but if you require both – do it, simplistically! The main aim of your wristband design will be to create awareness, and promote brand profile, so consider these aims before you change or enhance a brand’s original design and what it may be already known or recognised for.
